The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club & Spa, Jupiter Gets "Fired Up" at First Annual Member Chili Cook-Off
JUPITER, Fla., – December 4, 2007 –The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club & Spa, Jupiter Residents, hosted its First Annual Member Chili Cook-Off on November 4 to benefit Palm Beach Harvest, a nonprofit organization supporting local food banks and soup kitchens. The inaugural event attracted more than 120 people and featured food stations and refreshments near the pool; face painting, a bounce house and petting zoo for kids; popcorn and cotton candy; cigar rollers; and live country music. The day's feature event was a competition between six of the Club's Members for the top chili recipe. A panel of nine judges, including lead judge and head golf professional, Travis Geiger, selected the winning recipes based on originality, spice blend and taste. Team Effenberger won a first place trophy and "bragging rights" for their chili recipe made in traditional south-of-the-border-style with Tri-tip beef. Second and third place winners were Team Ritz and Team Healey, respectively.
The property held a very popular Barbecue Cook-Off in April, which raised $17,000 and funded a new air-conditioned truck for Palm Beach Harvest to transport food. The charity hopes to purchase a second truck with the money raised at the Chili Cook-Off. These events are part of The Ritz-Carlton Golf Club & Spa, Jupiter's Community Footprints initiatives, a global, Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, L.L.C. program that encourages partnerships with local organizations to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
